Brussels, Belgium. May 6, 2021 — Cowboy today announced the Cowboy 4, its latest generation of urban electric bikes now available in two different frames. The C4 features an upgrade to its quintessential frame while the C4 ST is a Cowboy first — a step-through model to match a variety of riding styles, heights, and tastes. Both bikes feature 50% more torque which powers Cowboy’s acclaimed automatic transmission. No buttons or gears, just a simple acceleration and speed when needed, as well as an incredibly smooth experience when cycling uphill. Thanks to its removable battery weighing only 2.4kg and with a range of up to 70km, the Cowboy 4 helps you go the distance and keeps you active every day.

“The Cowboy 4 completely redefines life in and around cities,” shared Adrien Roose, Cowboy Co-Founder and CEO. “By designing two frame types featuring our first-ever step-through model, an integrated cockpit, and a new app, we are now able to address a much larger audience and cater to many more riders to move freely in and around cities,” he added. “Our mission is to help city dwellers move in a faster, safer and more enjoyable way than any other mode of urban transportation. Be it wandering through the city or staying fit, it’s a reconnection with your senses and a rediscovery of the simple thrill of riding a bike.”

The C4 ST, Cowboy’s first step-through model, is built on the very same design principles of the original frame style Cowboy built its reputation on. An equally sleek bike, its dimensions offer an upright riding position to attract an even broader audience looking for a more comfortable ride. The C4 ST is optimised to suit riders 160–190cm in height whereas the C4 best accommodates riders 170–195cm tall.

“Adding to the C3, our acclaimed model launched in June 2020 now selling at a reduced price of €2,190 / £2,190 inclusive of mudguards, the C4 and C4 ST are a new milestone for Cowboy. Everyone now has an opportunity to break free no matter their frame style preference,” Adrien Roose commented.

The C4 and C4 ST have been awarded Red Dot Best of the Best 2021 in the product design category, a testament to the craftsmanship and design excellence demonstrated since the inception of the company in 2017. With the launch of the Cowboy 4, almost every component of the bike has been custom designed, with the exception of the saddle and the carbon belt, produced by best-in-class Selle Royal and Gates, respectively. From the brake cables now seamlessly integrated into the handlebars and stem, the diamond pattern of the grips mirroring the tread of the tyres, new angles of the brakes and pedals, and an eye-catching dropout at the rear wheel, every detail has been perfected for Cowboy’s quintessential minimalistic look.

With the introduction of its latest bike, Cowboy will also offer a custom-designed series of accessories starting with a rear rack and kickstand, available as options at the time of purchase. The C4 and C4 ST come in three gorgeous colors, including Black, Khaki, and Sand, and are available to pre-order starting today, with deliveries beginning in September. Both models will feature pre-fitted mudguards.

Exclusively available on the C4 and C4 ST is a cockpit integrated into the stem featuring a built-in Quad Lock mount to securely hold the rider’s smartphone providing with real-time access to essential information through the Cowboy app as they ride. Once docked, the phone will wirelessly connect and charge, directly leveraging the bike’s internal battery.

“We wanted to give anyone’s phone and the new Cowboy app centre stage, enabling our riders to have a companion along for the ride, offering easy and instant access to information such as remaining battery range, air quality on route and a wide range of live fitness stats,” said Tanguy Goretti, Co-Founder and VP Software. “Thanks to our proprietary cockpit, it is now easy to quickly and securely dock your phone and give it a battery charge as you ride,” he added.

With the phone in focus, so is the acclaimed Cowboy app. It’s packed with industry-first features available this summer on both iOS and Android:

  • A new home screen presenting en route weather and air quality information, predictive battery range and consumption, as well as previous trips summary.
  • A new navigation screen and 3D map rendering layout allowing for intuitive access to favorite and recent locations, clear turn-by-turn directions, factoring the air quality index and offering the healthiest route as an alternative to the fastest itinerary.
  • New trip dashboard to track live fitness data such as distance covered, average and top speed, caloric burn, and elevation gain.
  • Trip summary rewarding frequent usage and achievements, including badges earned and leaderboard ranking.
  • A new community feature offering the ability to join curated group rides across capital cities in Europe.

Cowboy continues to expand its entire service ecosystem to support every rider nearby, on the road, and in the app.

  • Mobile Service — On-demand free repair network available nationwide across Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Austria and Luxembourg.
  • Customer Support — A team of specialists available 6 days a week, replying to any customer request on average within 6 minutes, with an overall satisfaction rate of 94.4%.
  • Theft Protection— A comprehensive subscription plan operated in partnership with Qover which includes theft detection, theft insurance and streetside assistance throughout Europe.

“The last three years have seen Cowboy go from an idea of reimagining the electric bike to becoming a sought-after brand and product with a devoted community of riders within the mobility space,” Adrien Roose shared. “We’ve stayed true to our initial vision of providing a better alternative to the car — in form and function — and with the Cowboy 4 it’s a shift we will accelerate and lead.”
